GBM Civils have recently completed a Design & Build project for English Nature with a difference.
The challenge was to design, construct and project manage a new car park in accordance with English Nature’s Environmental Policy. The main requirements were to use processes, which resulted in minimal environmental impact, and materials that had the maximum possible recycled content or were from a sustainable source.
Having to work to a tight timescale with restricted access and a safe system of working practices the contract has been successfully completed. The car park will be open in Spring 2006 once the rootzone has become established.
The threat of the spread of Japanese Knotweed had to be dealt with prior to construction of this site for Allison Homes Ltd.
Therefore before two 1.8m diameter 4.0m deep manhole chambers with a 1.2m diameter storm attenuation facility could be placed below the proposed infrastructure the site had to be cleared of the contagious plant using strict guidelines. This resulted in more than one thousand tonnes of contaminated material being removed from site to a licensed tip.
A £300,000 + Design & Build residential infrastructure project has recently been completed successfully in this South Lincolnshire village.
Working to phased handover’s all elements of our works were carried out following a detailed investigation of any risks associated with the work. A safe working method was agreed with our direct workforce in line with the stringent Health and Safety guidelines.
