Brief: The Demolition comprised of 40 individual structures, including 3 incineration plants, which posed an additional prospect of contamination. The main contract was finished ahead of program with no reportable accidents or incidents.
The works involved the removal of all notifiable asbestos both internally and from a further 350 metres of external services ducts. A substantial land remediation scheme had to be carried out to clear the surrounding land, a total of 1000 tonnes of asbestos contaminated concrete and 1200 tonnes of asbestos contaminated soil had to be removed to local landfill sites under strict transport regimes.
